Mastering Networking: How Knowing Your Numbers Unlocks Pro-Level Moves

Networking is a business owner’s superpower. It’s how jobs are filled, clients are acquired, partnerships are established, and revenue is generated - but not if you’re unprepared. As the old saying goes: luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. You never know when an opportunity will present itself for you to do business with someone. It could be at a conference, a networking mixer, or while out running errands. You must have a plan for every networking opportunity, and that plan must include knowledge of your business’ financials.

Do you understand the financial needs and challenges that arise for your business at different times? For example, your busy and slow seasons. Business owners who don’t take the time to plan their cycle end up just going with the motions. That could have you standing in front of a potential business opportunity like a deer caught in headlights. Is now the best time to accept an offer? To establish that partnership? Are you at capacity? Will you be soon? The last thing you should do is decide about a competitive business opportunity based on limited financial knowledge.

Networking is about more than handing out a business card. You need to be a walking financial file cabinet so you can make key connections, set dates, and make the right moves that will further your business. SMG can help with this either through private, one-on-one advisory services or through our membership-based Bookkeeping Boot Camp. We can also help connect you with worthwhile events, specifically in the Inland Empire region.

With that, we’re thrilled to announce a monthly networking mixer SMG is hosting in partnership with the Southwest Hispanic Chamber of Commerce kicking off Tuesday, August 1st from 6-7:30 pm. The event will take place in Rancho Cucamonga and is open to business owners, collaborators, and professionals across every industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity to network with a diverse group of individuals to foster new connections and opportunities. Members of the Southwest Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will also have special opportunities for business promotion and connection!
